Tussen 2011 en 2013 heeft Martijn een serie artikelen geschreven over de implementatie van IFC in Revit. Deze artikelen zijn gepubliceerd in AugiWorld, uitgegeven door Autodesk User Group International (AUGI). Hieronder vindt u de vier artikelen in de opmaak waarin ze gepubliceerd zijn. 

In deze class, gepresenteerd en opgenomen tijdens Autodesk University 2013, geeft Martijn een overzicht van de IFC functionaliteit in Revit. De basisprincipes die hier worden behandeld zijn nog steeds van toepassing, hoewel de huidige workflows zeker verder ontwikkeld zijn. In 2012 en 2013 heeft Martijn 2 classes gegeven tijdens de RTC Europe conferentie (inmiddels Bilt) over IFC en hoe hiermee de uitwisseling van bouwinformatie tussen projectpartners kan worden verbeterd. Deze twee classes geven een overzicht van alle best practises, workflows en de laatste ontwikkelingen op het gebied van IFC.

A key aspect of any BIM process it is how to keep your BIM in shape. Most project teams rely on a specific software tool to keep the BIM in shape. However, is a single software always the right solution? Or should the Model Checking part of a BIM project be filled in based on the actual project scope and workflow? In this lecture Owen Slootweg discusses three of the major software solutions used to perform Model Checks: Revit Model Checker, Navisworks Manage and Solibri Model Checker. Each of these tools has it’s pro’s and cons which will be discussed. Each tool also has it’s unique features that will be demonstrated.

But more importantly: this lecture will discuss ways of choosing the right tool for the job. Attendees will learn how to assess a project setup and set up a Model Checking strategy that ultimately will span multiple levels of Model Checking, based on the project phase, desired results and parties involved in the project.

In September of 2015 the Revit Standards Foundation was established with the support of all the key Stakeholders in the Dutch Building Industry, Contractors, Architects, Structural Engineers, MEP Engineers, Resellers and Manufacturers.

The NL-RS unifies the Dutch workflow in Revit to advance collaboration, communication and provide reusable Content. Currently, the NL-RS is widely adopted and features in most of the BIM-protocols provided with BIM projects. Moreover, the BIM Loket, a semi-governmental organization for the promotion of the use of open standards in BIM features the NL-RS in its BIM execution plan and BIM-Protocol.

The Revit Standards Foundation has applied the NL-RS to be recognized as an official Open Standard by the Dutch government. After an adoption process that took almost two years, in May 2018 the NL-RS was recognized by the Dutch Standardisation Forum as an advised open standard. This will mean that the NL-RS will become an advised Open Revit Standard to be used in all government and semi-government BIM projects using Revit.

Martijn de Riet presented a Keynote speech at the 2018 Plastic Pipes inside Buildings convention, discussing the different strategies Manufacturers use to implement BIM in their organizations. From regarding BIM as a marketing tool to integrating BIM in the internal processes, there are lots of different ways Manufacturers can implement BIM.

However, the most profitable way is to try and implement BIM in such a way that multiple goals can be achieved. If that is done correctly, manufacturers can profit from BIM in various ways. From increasing brand value to strengthening their position as key knowledge partner for Contractors, BIM will indeed profit Manufacturers.

Tijdens deze sessie praat Martijn de Riet u bij over de laatste nieuwe toepassingen en mogelijkheden van IFC. Met Bimforce werkt Martijn aan innovatieve manieren om IFC zodanig in het BIM proces te integreren dat u als gebruiker eigenlijk helemaal niet meer stil hoeft te staan bij het feit dat u IFC gebruikt. In plaats daarvan werkt het gewoon!

Martijn presenteert de visie van Bimforce over hoe IFC zou moeten werken, en geeft daarna een aantal voorbeelden van hoe Bimforce dit, in samenwerking met anderen zoals Jon Mirtschin, GeometryGym, implementeert in de eigen software en workflows.
